The Damien Hirst connection
Cove View is so conveniently placed - an easy stroll to many great pubs and restaurants, the pretty harbour and the Damien Hirst Statue and his restaurant at "11, The Quay". Verity is a 66 feet high bronze-clad sculpture loaned to the North Devon Council for a 20 year period. On Tuesday 16 October 2012, Verity was hoisted into position where she now stands tall above Ilfracombe's Pier, guarding the harbour entrance. The statue of pregnant Verity holding a sword aloft and standing on a base of legal books represents truth and justice. The title 'Verity' relates to the Italian word for truth. She carries a sword and scales, symbols denoting justice. Damien Hirst's new gallery and shop at 10, The Quay Ilfracombe is now open. Selling art works, jewellery, photographs and much more, a visit to "Other Criteria" is a must.

Ilfracombe - a whole new shopping experience!
Visit Ilfracombe's unique High Street for a whole new shopping experience. With the exception of some well known banks and the amply stocked Co-op and Lidls food stores, you will find a treasure trove of individual shops which provide very individual service. I would hazard a guess that most everything you might need could be found in a shop on Ilfracombe's vibrant High Street, and if not, perhaps in one of the galleries or specialist shops in the Fore Street and Harbour area.
With names such as "Not a greedy man", "Good Enough" or Walker's Chocolate Emporium", it's clear that this is not just any old High Street. With "The Big Apple" (not a fruit shop!), "The Tinker Tailor Party Shop" & "All Kinds of Furniture" all in one street, you really can't go wrong!
